TUJIKO NORIKO『Kuro』SCREENING & PERFORMANCE

フランス在住の音楽家、ツジコノリコによる映画作品『Kuro』（2017）の上映会を京都METROで開催いたします。映像作家ジョージ・コヤマと共同制作となる本作は、すでに『Chicago Underground Film Festival』や『Slamdance Film Festival』等で公開され好評を得ている作品で、2019年にはベルリンのレーベル「PAN」からサウンドトラックのリリースも決定しています。そして今回は『Kuro』に加え、本邦初公開となるツジコノリコ主演の短編映画『Lady Frutti』も併せて上映。上映後にはツジコノリコ、そして大阪を拠点に活動するTakahiro UchiboriのソロプロジェクトMetomeのライブパフォーマンスを行います。会場ではMetomeの新作となる３rdアルバム『Dialect』も先行発売！ どうぞ2018年のサマーハプニングスにご期待ください。

『Kuro』（84min）
パリ郊外に住む日本人ロミはカラオケバーで働きながら、家では麻痺状態に陥っている恋人ミルーの面倒を見て暮らしている。ロミがミルーにお話を聞かせながら家での時間を過ごしていると、以前彼らが一緒に日本にいた頃の話題が発端となり、そこに登場する小野と呼ばれる男の謎が話をどんどん思わぬ方向に。自身の過去、伝説、奇談などを交えつつ、やがてロミのミルーへのひとり語りは恐ろしいような、不思議なような、ただならぬ様相を帯び始める。監督はフランス在住の音楽家ツジコノリコとベルリン在住の映像作家ジョージ・コヤマ。2017年作品。http://kuro.film

Romi, a Japanese woman living in Paris, works in a karaoke bar. At home in the suburbs, she tends to her paraplegic lover Milou. To pass the time she recounts to him a story alluding to a period they once spent together in Japan. Soon, the mystery of a man named Mr. Ono begins to unsettle everything. Weaving together personal history, anecdotes and myths, the story takes a dark turn.

『Kuro』はわたしたちが人生を受け入れていく上での物語の必要性ついての映画です。物語は世界を理解する上での骨組みであると同時に理解不能への恐怖からわたしたちを守ってくれます。けれど、守ってくれるとは言っても、そのストーリーの構成、使い方、解釈は常に不確実で流動的。おそらく『Kuro』は説明し切れぬ理解不能なものとは消えたと思いきや再び現れ、結局絶えずわたしたちにつきまとうものであるにもかかわらず、それらを物語でどうにかこうにか説明、言い表そうとするそのドタバタについての映画でもあるのです。観客の方々が、ものごとの不明確さの中を篤と探検できるような、ゆとり空間を作り出すために、わたしたちは物語りの仕組みを利用しては、時にそれを枠から外してゆさぶってみる、というような映画を作りたかったのです。

“Kuro is a film about our need for narrative to make sense of our lives. We were interested in how stories become a kind of architecture of our understanding of the world, as well as protection from what we fear and do not understand. However much we protect ourselves with stories, the ways in which we construct, use and interpret them are in constant flux. Perhaps our film is also about the ways in which narrative ultimately tries to articulate the unknowable and how in spite of this, the unknowable always returns to haunt us. We wanted to make a film that plays with, and at moments unhinges the mechanisms of storytelling, in order to produce a cinematic experience that allows for space and ambiguity for the audience to explore.”   —Joji Koyama and Tujiko Noriko



『Lady Frutti』（31min）
フランスのアーティスト、クロエ・ファブルが監督、ツジコノリコが主演する短編映画作品。「The Lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat」の劇中歌で有名なクラシック・ミュージカル『The Gang’s All Here』、そのショーの実現を目指す一行の愉快な珍道中を描く。2015年に制作され今回が日本初公開となる。

Performance/work in progress for a movie, a "Backstage musical" about a character trying to elaborate a "Show". Every step mentioned below is shooted and will be included to the movie as a documentary drama.
A japanese girl wants to organise a show on the Esplanade du Palais de Chaillot in Paris, dancing and singing "The Lady in the Tutti Frutti hat", the famous Carmen Miranda's hit. She wants to remix this choreography from early 40's Busby Berkeley's musical : "The gang's all here". She started this project in a draft process of performances. For the moment, she could show some parts of it in different places : By a window, in an office, in a vestibule... Step by step, she's making more and more gigantic fruits (main element of her choreography), using waste cardboard boxes and photocopies. As a result her show is becoming bigger and bigger. She is proposed to perform it in several places in Paris : l'Espace d'en bas, la Gaîté lyrique, le Théâtre de Vanves... But, this character has a geographical obsession : the Esplanade du Palais de Chaillot in Paris (very touristic place) that she can never reach. Finally, it's kind of a pretext, and it's becoming a « quest ».

ツジコノリコ
フランス在住の音楽家、映画監督。現在まで17枚のアルバムをEditions Mego, Tomlab, Fat Cat and Room40等からリリース。2003年、アルバム『ハードにさせて』はPrix Ars Electronicaで特別賞を受賞。『Sonar Festival』等の音楽祭にも出演する。映画、アニメーション、ダンス、インスタレーション作品への音楽提供や音楽家ピーター・レーバーグ、竹村延和、ローレンス・イングリッシュとのコラボレーションも評価を得る。最新アルバムはソロ作品『My Ghost Comes Back』。2005年より映画監督として作品制作を開始、『砂、そしてミニハワイ』（2005年）『SUN』（2008年）はパリのカルティエ財団美術館をはじめ国際的に上映が行われている。３作目となる監督作品（ジョージ・コヤマとの共作）『Kuro』はサウンドトラックが2018年９月にベルリンPANからのリリースが予定されている。


Metome
南大阪を拠点に活動する音楽家Takahiro Uchiboriのソロプロジェクト。2013年に1stアルバム『Opus Cloud』、翌年には2ndアルバム『Objet』を発表。XLR8RやDummy等のメディアを始め、Bandcampでも注目を集め、2015年には米ツアーを敢行する。同2015年にEP『Angel』、2016年にEP 『Palm』、2018年にEP『Shibboleth』を発表。コンテンポラリーダンスユニットKaycee Rice & Bailey Holtへの楽曲提供などを含め現在、国内外問わず幅広く活動している。今夏、3rdアルバムとなる『Dialect』をリリース。
